Rasūlullāh Ṣallallāhu ʿalayhi wasallam sought Allah’s protection from debt, taught us the merit of abstinence, independence, and contentment, and praised the debt-free individual, highlighting that a debt-free life is an honourable, admirable life.
Despite this, taking out loans—which do not entail ribā (interest) and are for permissible reasons—is perfectly permissible. At some stage of life, a person may fall into debt.
Rasūlullāh Ṣallallāhu ʿalayhi wasallam has provided us with the solutions to settle debts and remove worry—which the debtor is generally afflicted with. In this article, I quote these solutions. Adhering to them will break us free from the shackles of debt.
